Former State Sen. Bill Hightower released his first television ad of his campaign to win the Republican nomination for Congress in Alabama’s 1st District.
The ad features a female voice positioning Hightower as a candidate who applies his religious faith to his politics, including by supporting pro-life policies.
“Our religious liberties are safe in the hands of Bill Hightower,” the woman says.

The ad appears on broadcast and cable, as well as digital platforms in the Mobile market, according to the Hightower campaign. The campaign would not specifically say how large the buy was in terms of money or gross ratings points, only saying it totaled “six figures.”
Hightower was elected to the State Senate in 2013 during a special election and represented Mobile for five years. In 2018, Hightower ran for governor, but fell short in the GOP primary to Gov. Kay Ivey.
Also running for the Republican nomination in Alabama’s 1st District are State Rep. Chris Pringle, Mobile Count Commissioner Jerry Carl, Wes Lambert and John Castorani. The seat is open now that its current occupant, Congressman Bradley Byrne, is running for the U.S. Senate.
