MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Each quarter, Alabama Public Television produces “Spotlight on Education,” a program designed to offer deep dives into important and topical issues related to education.
The latest “Spotlight” episode includes interviews with State Superintendent Eric Mackey, A Plus Education Partnership President Mark Dixon and Alabama’s 2022 Teacher of the Year Reggie White.
Mackey discussed the implications of the Texas school shooting on Alabama and what the Alabama State Department of Education is doing to ensure safety in the classroom. Dixon talked about the implementation of the Alabama Numeracy Act as well asa the importance of summer learning to catch students up. And Mr. White explained his background in teaching and offered words of encouragement to those considering entering the profession.
